The Enchanté Network has launched Funding Equality, a comprehensive national report highlighting how 2SLGBTQI+ organizations across Canada are preventing and responding to rising hate crimes.
Rooted in community voices and national data, this report sheds light on the realities facing 2SLGBTQI+ groups—particularly those led by Black, Indigenous, newcomer, and rural communities—as they work to build safer, more resilient futures. It also outlines key recommendations for funders to better support frontline organizations leading this work.
Key Findings:
71% of organizations said their projects directly responded to growing anti-2SLGBTQI+ sentiment.
65% addressed specific hate crimes, including hate speech and physical violence.
Organizations identified the need for flexible funding, staff capacity building, and investments in healing-centred spaces that celebrate community resilience and joy.
This report marks an essential step toward building sustainable, equitable support systems for 2SLGBTQI+ organizations—and creating a future where our communities can thrive safely and fully.
