The Enchanté Network

Back to Our Roots has officially launched a first-of-its-kind sub-population report centering the voices and lived experiences of Black 2SLGBTQI+ people with disabilities across Canada.
Grounded in national data and community insight, the report explores how ableism intersects with anti-Black racism, transphobia, and queerphobia—especially in housing, healthcare, education, and employment. It sheds light on the unique barriers faced by Black Disabled 2SLGBTQI+ people, while also celebrating community resilience and resistance in the face of systemic inaccessibility and exclusion.
Key Findings:
60.7% reported avoiding medical care due to discrimination
70% said disability justice is not reflected in the 2SLGBTQI+ spaces they access
52.6% experienced barriers to employment related to both disability and race
This report marks a critical step toward building accessible, affirming, and intersectional futures led by and for Black Disabled 2SLGBTQI+ communities.
