Reports to: Managing Director
Hours & Term: 37.5 hours per week; until September 31, 2027 (possibility of extension)

Location: Remote within Canada (preference for Ottawa/Gatineau area; all applications considered)
Salary & Benefits: Hiring range $60,000 - $75,000 annually plus benefits (prorated)

Vacation: 4 weeks paid per year (prorated), plus 1.25 sick days per month
Languages Required: Fluency in English and French required

Position Summary

The Policy Analyst leads TEN’s public policy analysis, advocacy, and sector research. This position develops evidence-informed recommendations, builds relationships with decision-makers, mobilizes members through advocacy platforms, and ensures TEN’s initiatives are grounded in data and research.

The role is dynamic, requiring adaptability to emerging policy priorities and the ability to collaborate across the organization.

Core Areas of Responsibility

Public Policy Analysis & Development

  • Develop evidence-informed policy positions, briefs, and reports.

  • Monitor federal legislation, parliamentary proceedings, and government announcements.

  • Identify emerging policy issues affecting the 2SLGBTQI+ sector.

Government Relations & Advocacy

  • Build and maintain relationships with federal officials, political staff, and sector partners.

  • Lead national advocacy initiatives, including lobby events.

  • Support member engagement in advocacy campaigns.

Research & Knowledge Mobilization

  • Conduct research and data analysis to support policy development.

  • Translate research into accessible materials for members and policymakers.

  • Collaborate with communications and programs staff to disseminate knowledge products.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Convene members and sector partners to inform policy priorities.

  • Maintain relationships with national membership and external advocacy networks.

  • Ensure integration of policy insights into programming and national convenings.

Organizational Contribution

  • Contribute policy insights to conference programming and convenings.

  • Support grant proposals and reporting where policy-related components exist.

  • Collaborate across departments to align advocacy and programming priorities.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in public policy analysis, advocacy, or government relations.

  • Knowledge of federal decision-making processes and parliamentary institutions.

  • Strong research, analytical, and communication skills (bilingual).

  • Experience translating complex policy issues for diverse audiences.

  • Commitment to 2SLGBTQI+ equity and anti-oppression principles.

  • Experience in nonprofit and network-based organizations is an asset.
